h regular mea -ting of the Pearland City 'Council was called to order
at 7:30 P. i:i. by Mayor Gibbons karch 21, 1963 in the City Hall with the
following officials and guests in attendances

The minutes of tt:e re; ular meeting of h1arch 7, 1963 were read and
approved.
Mayor Gibbons next read a letter agreement proposed by the American
Canal Company re-arding the City of Pe�a,.rland's purchase of--u.er
from the American Canal Company. After due discussion of_ I:r., Cof'fe,e's
pro,-osal A"r. Gene Sanders moved that the proposal be a.ccapted--suhjec`€,;
to city attorney approval. David L. Smith moved to tabre.' he
motion for further discussion. The Labeling motion zras seconded—
by John Ke -;ley. All Aldermen voted "Ay(Y with no

preparing the contract more commensurate with city of Furl°u%ki
desires and needs. '
The Treasurer reported a balance on hand as of Earth 21, 1963 of v 15526.16.
The Street and Bridge 'Committee reported that work is progr=,ssing on
repairing the city streets. her. D. L. Smith also reported that the pian
awarded contract to install street signs has been severly burned argil will
probably be out of corcJ ission for several days. however !VLr.- Keilers
son stated he will proceed ii�dth the work.

'/ ayor Gibbons next asked t ha City Secreta.ry to read the proposed city
V Subdivision Ordinance. After due discussion it v^Tas a-roed to present
the proposed ordinance"to -the consulting engineers for their.inspection
and com-aents .
The Secretary next read a letl_er fron, the State r'igEnway Department
indicating their ap_:roval to proceed i;-r:,rediately 7idth widening
hi ghtway 518.
iv`r. D. L. Smith moved that the City prepare a letter indicating
city of Pe Orland concurrence to proceed with the cur ging and street
widening of highway 518.- Motion seconded by John Kegley. All
r
nldermen voted "Aye" with no "Noes.
A :roti on tiwas made by John Kegley that a letter be prepared to our state
representative instructing him to oppose vigourously the pending
house bill „L 13 ren-arding annexation b� municipalities, and for the.
Mayor to call Neil Caldwell toe ,press our desires verbally. Lotion •
seconded by V. A. ITolen. All Aldermen voted "Aye" with no "Noes".
Chief of Police D.C.Sanders reported that the police car needs a new set
of tires. He was instructed to contact the agent who represents the
manufacturer df the present set. of tires to see what remedial steps
can be taken to obtain .more mileage from future tires installed on
police car. V. A. Nolen_ reported that the.city land co.,unittee
has located several possible sites for city buildings. These 1:rere .
presented to the council for consideration. The :ayor stated:,hecwill
instruct the committee on -further action at the next meeting.
