1964-01-23 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 202 • PEM LJND CITY.COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 23, 1964 • • A regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by iayor. Gibbons in the Pearland Bank Building with the following city officials and guests in attendance: - Mayor - E. T. Gibbons 2 Aldermen- victor A. Nolen,. David L. Smith, Gene E. Sanders John Kegley, Tom Alexander Guest - Jerry_,Birdwell, Joe Saffle, John N Waling, William Louden, Pt. O. Knapp, E.A. Wasel ,- Azel Warren, Jiro • Inman -James C. Young, Aubrey G.. Clark The minutes of the meeting of January 16, 1964 were read and approved. Er. Walsh presented the results of the core test taken on Linwood ,Drive in Mr. Little's Subdivision and indicated the road met requirements of the city of Pearland. He therefore reported to`;the council that Linwood Drive met with his approval. Mr. V. A. Nolen reported that Mr. Brodnax is working on the fire zone ordinance revision and will be completed in approximately one i.*eek. Mr. Waling presented his final plat of section No 1, Lanpvocd Sub-division for council ebnsidera.tion. He was advised to collect the additional information • -required by the subdivision ordinance and report back to the council after seven days. • Mr. James Young appeared before the council to discuss •his preliminary plat of Sleepy Hollow.Sabdivision. After a lengthy discussion Mr. D. L. Smith made a motion, seconded,by V. A. Nolen that the preliminary plat be accepted for filing. Aldermen Sanders offered an amendment to require an outside engineer to inspect • the plat since Mr. Walsh of Walsh Mc Claren is the city engineer and was also the engineer retained by Mr. James Young to,.cengineer Sleepy.Hollow Subdivision. Mr. Smith declined the amendment o All Aldermen voted "Aye" with no "Noes". Ir. Walsh asked the Shadycrest Civic Club representatives is they would be interested in city water and sewerage service. They indicated a• possible desire for sewerage and would not want water service. The subdivision is approximately 35 % built up. Mayor Gibbons reported that Cloyd Young desires to•meet with the committee of the ci ty to discuss his subdivision problems . Mayor Gibbons appointed Mr. Tom Alexander, V. A. Nolen to serve on this committee. Mr. Young indicated he will try to appear at the next regular council meeting. After due discussion Mr. Loessine presented his final plat of Circle Park Sub.- • divison for council approval. A motion was male by John Kegley and seconded by V. A. Nolen that the final plat of Section I Circle Park Subdivi sap be approved subject'to the owner posting reeuired_bond and furnishing the city attorney wit proof of ownership. 1111 Aldermen ,voted "Aye" with no "TNoes't. The committe from Shadycrest Civic Club expressed interest in -the tax structure of the city and how and what services will be rendered. Mayor Gibbons explained the plans of the city are in the initial stages of'development ad the specific tax • structure has not been developed. Mayor Gibbons next discussed the need for having the water district books ani the city books audited. It 'was reported that Mr. Thornton Char!bers is an C. P. A. and should be available to work- for the city of Pearland. Mr. Walsh will try to . contact iy r. Chambers to appear before the counci 1. _Mayor Gibbons called a special meeting for Thursday January 30, 1964 to review the plans of the engineers on the water and- sewerage system. The Building Code Committee was instructed by Mayor ,,:Gibbons to meet at the earlies possible date to adopt a building code for the city 'Of Pearland.
