R2002-0040 03-11-02RESOLUTION NO. R2002-40 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A FLOOD MITIGATION PLANNING GRANT TO THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the State of Texas encourage local governments to file Flood Mitigation Plans that identify potential projects for future funding. Section 2. That the City of Pearland does not have a Flood Mitigation Plan filed with FEMA or the State. Section 3. That FEMA provides planning grants through the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, requiring a 25% local match. Section 4. That receiving a planning grant will enable the City to prepare a comprehensive Flood Mitigation Plan; thereby, enhancing the City's opportunities to receive mitigation grants. Section 5. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to submit an application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a Flood Mitigation Planning Grant.
