R-2013-207 2013-12-16 RESOLUTION NO. R2013-207 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, ADOPTING A PAY PLAN FOR TRANSITIONAL PARAMEDIC/FIREFIGHTER. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Council previously passed a resolution consolidating the Fire and EMS Departments and requiring that all future employees be dually certified as firefighters and paramedics. Section 2. That the City requires four (4) new firefighter/paramedics to staff the City's 5th ambulance, and desires to create a temporary "Transitional Paramedic/Firefighter" position and pay classification accordingly. Section 3. That the four Transitional Paramedic/Firefighters will be compensated using the current Firefighter/EMT pay classification plus an additional $450 per month Paramedic certification pay due to fact that the four positions will staff a less desirable shift structure (12 hour days for four consecutive days, followed by four days off). Section 4. That the City Council hereby creates the position of Transitional Paramedic/Firefighter for four employees and adopts a pay plan plus $450 per month certification pay for the position. Section 5. That effective October 1, 2014, the Transitional Paramedic/Firefighter positions will be phased out as the former EMS employee's transition to the new Fire Department shift schedule and pay plan which will include the $450 per month certification pay for fire fighters of all ranks that are certified as paramedics.
