Report of Library Committees:
Government Help. Herb Carlston will write Mrs. Van
Horn of the Brazoria County Library, stating that we have
been authorized by the City of Pearland to seek County help.
He suggested that Mrs. Van Horn would like to have several
such letters before approaching the County Commissioners
for the needed increase in the County Library budget. It
was Mr. Carlston's suggestion that 3ach Board member send
such a letter.
It was decided to invite County Commissioner Jordan

he might contribute.
Mr. Carlston will investigate the feasibility of
applying for Title II funds at this time.
Foundations. Jim Tucker suggested that we purchase
a list of Foundations that we could solicite for contributions.
He will investigate methods of sending a form request to
the Foundations on the list.
Book Contributions. Pat Crawford reported that a
set of Luther Burbank books has been donated to the Library.
She suggested that the Rosenberg Library may be interested
in purchasing the set and that we have them appraised,
possibly by Miss Ard of the State Library system.
Mrs. Crawford also reported that some storage area
has been donated by the Pearland Plumbing Company, but that
insects are being attracted to the books. She suggested
that the books be sorted and that everything not up to
Library standrads be sold in a book sale.
Site and Building Committee. Jack Idoux reported
that nothing further had been done on securing a site since
the joint meeting of the Library Committee and City Council.
He still felt that the Lion's Club Little League park could
be secured if a. suitable location were found for the Little
League, either by the City or by the Library Board.
