as read.

$63.24 in savings.

but not yet officially adopted, with the McNaughton plan included. We will be notified
of the date of public hearing on this. The library has a new telenhone line (485-4876)
and the digital burglar alarm system has been installed.
Dede further reported that circulation for the summer was down slightly but the road
has been closed for improvement. There has been good attendance for special programs.
Plans are being made for Founder's Day, when Dede will. dress the oart of the times
and ride the bookmobile in the parade again. Plans for Children's Book Week in Nov.
include a magician and Joe Hicks, who draws nictures while telling a story.
John Moorman commented on circulation figures and then exnlained the budget worksheet
and the book budget comparison. John will check with the comnany regarding the copy
machine since the library should be receiving income from this. The county administrative
offices for the library in Angleton will be located at a different address, on Front St.,
after Sept. 12, and will no longer be in the county library. An onen house will be held
later in Sept. Fifty movies for videocassette will be available for loan soon, free
from the Houston system through interlibrary loan.
Fay thanked our board for bringing food to the May 22 luncheon for the County Library
Board. Bettye circulated thank -you notes from several who attended. John has heard
nothing recently about the reciprocal agreement between Pearland and Friendswood.
Bettye discussed the project of selling the pie savers for money -making, and expressed
concern about their chipping. John suggested that we not continue the attemnt since
there are problems with chipping and differences in prices charged. Manvel or Angleton
may be able to sell the remaining ones we have, Bettye feels.
The projection area equipment is installed but needs some adjustments. The large
bulletin board and microfiche/film reader -printer are not here yet. Dede described
items she would like to borrow from the public to display for Founder's Day, such as
photographs and items from the era. Bettye volunteered to sneak to Mrs. Barry Miller
about some items she might share.
Fay asked board members to think about suggestions for adult programs the library
might offer. John suggested checking with the home demonstration agent in regard to
microwave cooking demonstrations, and other members suggested various programs such
as Christmas foods and decorations, historical_ disntays, travel, health and fitness.
