1990-11-20 PEARLAND LIBRARY BOARD MEETING MINUTESPEARLAND LIBRARY BOARD .-iINUTES
November 20, 1990 7:30 P.M.
Rosalie called the meeting to order with Nancy Sallee, Dede Williams, Ed Fondren,
Bettye Alexander, and Judy Demecs in attendance.
The treasurer's report given by Nancy showed the same balance as previously reported,
$392.73.
Although no special reports were prepared since the purpose of the meeting was to
vote to amend the by-laws, Dede presented the October statistics for the county,
and noted that Lake Jackson's circulation was down due to their being closed two
weeks due to renovation. Pearland's circulation showed a marked increase from the
same month last year. Dr. Galen from TSO is still discussing with Rotarians their
donation for the visually impaired. On adult programs in the library, Dede reported
that recent programs have been on Christmas crafts and woodcarving, and upcoming
will be one on holiday cake decorating. In the spring Billie Garrison from our
library will conduct a workshop at the Sam Houston Book Festival together with
someone with the Alvin Library.
In regards the five-year plan, Dede reported that Steve Brown is compiling some
survey forms he will send us in order to get ideas for future planning. There was
some discussion of a fax machine for the library.
In unfinished business, Rosalie asked for consideration on changing the by-laws
so that we would have four instead of five regularly scheduled board meetings,
and that one would be in May instead of in June. Nancy moved that we changed the
by-laws to so read, and Bettye seconded the motion. Therefore, we will have meetings
on the third Tuesday of the months of January, March, May, and September.
Respectfully submitted,
Judy D mecs, Secretary
Rosalie Olah, Chairman
