The overall SOW is to extend the existing trail system beginning at Centennial Park and eventually terminating at Independence Park. RGME's specific SOW is defined as preparing plans for the proposed pedestrian crosswalk at Veterans and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for the trail. RGME will coordinate with Clark Condon Associates, Inc. (Condon) and the City of Pearland (City) to determine the location of the crosswalk (some distance south of Veterans Bridge over Mary's Creek) and the type of crosswalk to be constructed. There are various types of crosswalk warning systems from the High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) system (approximately $100,000) to the standard flashing yellow signal with crosswalk markings (similar to the one on McLean south of Mary's Creek). Based on the selected type, RGME will prepare the necessary plan and specifications for the crosswalk. The trail will be designed by Condon; however, pending the acreage of the proposed trail disturbance of soil, RGME will provide the necessary documents for a SWPPP to meet current City criteria. Dairy Ashford Rd. Houston,TX 77072-1010 281.933.7388 Ph 281.933.7293 Fax www.hvj.com HVJ Associates, Inc. is pleased to submit this proposal for the above project. This proposal outlines our understanding of the project and our approach for providing a geotechnical study for the proposed project. The geotechnical investigation will include two locations north of Magnolia Rd and East of South Main St. in Pearland, Texas. We understand that proposed improvements will include shade structures that will be approximately 15'x15' and 11'-16' tall. We understand that the site is accessible to truck -mounted drilling equipment. The purpose of this study is to provide foundation recommendations for the proposed structures. Scope of Work As per your request, we propose to drill two 20 -foot borings for the proposed structures. Soil samples will be obtained continuously to a depth of 20 feet. The boreholes will be drilled using truck -mounted drilling equipment and will be properly backfilled with soil cuttings after obtaining groundwater levels. Geotechnical drilling and sampling includes obtaining representative samples of subsurface materials. All the field and laboratory tests will be performed according to ASTM standards, where applicable, or with other well-established procedures. Results of the field and laboratory data will be used to develop recommendations for the proposed light pole. A report of our study will be prepared by an engineer specializing in geotechnical engineering, after reviewing available structural, boring and laboratory data. Ms. Elizabeth Gilbert FIG1313100 July 15, 2013 The anticipated number of lab tests is indicated in the attached cost breakdown. The lab testing will include: Moisture Content (ASTM D-2216) Unconsolidated Compression (ASTM D-2166) Atterberg Limits (ASTM D-4318) Percent Passing #200 Sieve (ASTM D-1120) In general, the following items will be included in the report: • Boring log and test data, • Groundwater conditions, • Generalized subsurface conditions, • Shade structures foundation recommendations, • Structural fill requirements and general earthwork recommendations. We expect to complete this assignment in about four weeks following our receipt of your written notice to proceed. If requested, verbal recommendations can be provided throughout the progress of the investigation as testing is completed. Fees and Conditions Based on the scope of work outlined, the lump sum fee for geotechnical services is $4,275. This estimate is given with the assumption that the site is accessible to a trick -mounted drilling rig. Our credit terms are net 30 days. HVJ Associates Inc. uses the Texas One Call System to locate buried utilities. Clark Condon Associates will be responsible for notifying us of any other utilities that may be present at the site, and for locating them. We will take care to minimize damage to the existing facilities; however, our activities may result in damage to vegetation or unidentified existing utilities. This proposal specifically excludes any costs associated with restoration of vegetation or repair of such utilities damaged by our operations. Our proposal does not include the costs of precise surveying of the horizontal and vertical location of the borings. Clark Condon Associates will be responsible for providing a site plan, with facility locations shown, suitable for use as a base map for our plan of borings. Laboratory samples will be held for no more than a period of 30 days following completion of the final report or 120 days following completion of the draft report. Insurance certificates verifying HVJ Associates' general liability, auto, worker compensation, and errors and omissions insurance coverage, listing the Clark Condon Associates as a certificate holder, will be provided upon request. If this proposal meets with your approval, please sign and complete the indicated spaces below and forward a copy of the proposal to us.
