DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD, OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS, HELD MONDAY, MAY 20,1996 AT 4:00 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL
CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS.
I. The meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m with the following present:

II. Approval of April 1, 1996 Regular Meeting Minutes -Board member Stella
Roberts made the motion, seconded by Vice President Tricia Holland to approve
the minutes as submitted.
Motion Passed: 6-0
111. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS -Input from board members included
participation in various facility tours, builders meeting, community leader
luncheons and speaking with potential prospects.
IV. Executive and Staff Reports - Interim Executive Director Glen Erwin informed
the board he was reviewing the Board Service Committees and would be following
up with recommendations in the near future.
Assistant Executive Director John Bowman mentioned a draft press release
scheduled to be released on Wednesday, May 22, regarding a $45,000 grant for
job training assistance from the Texas Department of Commerce. MTI, he
stated, had been linked with Alvin Community College to help them with this
process. Mr. Bowman informed the board that this is an underutilized fund that
the Texas Department of Commerce has available in the amount of twenty nine
million that is virtually going unused, but PEDC is taking advantage of it. He
stated that the PEDC would continue to inform local companies about this
program and help them take advantage of it.
Financial Director Jim Causey presented the board with PEDC's updated financial
report for their review and asked all questions be turned in to Mr. Glen Erwin.
Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Terrie Morgan gave a detailed status
report on the Salute to Industry Expo and Luncheon event scheduled to take place
on September 18 - 19, 1996.
V. (A) Brazoria County Magazine- Board member Stella Roberts made the motion,
seconded by Secretary Susan Lenamon to approve the staff to advertise the PEDC
in Brazoria County magazine at a cost of$750.00.

V. (B) Campaign Proiect-Secretary Susan Lenamon made the motion, seconded by
Board Member Connie Beaumont to authorize the PEDC to go forward with the
local retail campaign project as presented scheduling the distribution of
"Millionaire" candy boxes for June 20-21 and approve the mayoral proclamation
on June 10 to recognize Pearland retail businesses as requested.

V. (C) Pear Blossom Fest- Vice President Tricia Holland made the motion, seconded by
Secretary Susan Lenamon to authorize the PEDC staff to begin research and
studies regarding the creation and final outcome of an annual Pear Blossom Fest
and present recommendations in the near future.
Motion Passed: 6-0
V. (D) Quarterly Report- Secretary Susan Lenamon made the motion, seconded by
Board Member Stella Roberts to accept into the record, the Pearland/Hobby Area
Chamber of Commerce quarterly report as presented.
Motion Passed: 6-0
VI. OTHER BUSINESS - None
VII. ADJOURNMENT
Secretary Susan Lenamon made the motion, seconded by Board Member Stella
Roberts to adjourn the meeting.
