1962-02-01 -CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 1, 1962 The regular meeting of the PearLand City Council was called to order at 7:30: P. M. in the City Hall by Mayor Gibbons with the following City Officials and guests in attendance: Mayor E. T. Gibbons Aldermen W. E. Parker, Tom Alexander, Victor A. Nolen Fire Chief Buddy Ellis Police Chief D. C. Sanders Guests T. L. TiLlison, B. E. Griffin, E. S. Enriquez, Ray P. Martinez and Jesse Rodriquez. The minutes of the January 18, 1962 meeting were read and approved. Aldermen Nolen moved the following bills be paid. Sanders 155 Amount $ 5.12 ` 12.44 . 42.00 16.29 13.30 3.00 20.00 20.00 20.00 10.05 285.20 171.20 Mayor Gibbons discussed the outstanding bills to be paid and also presented Houston Natural Gas Company's check for gross receipts for the year 1961 in the amount of $1,000.00. Alderman Parker discussed the need for street naming signs. It was agreed that the Street and Bridge Committee should conduct a survey to determine the number of signs required and the price of each street marker. Mr. Hector discussed his hi)s;tory of police work and elaborated upon the various episodes of interest during his police work in Corpus Christi. Mr. Hector was requested to furnish a 3x5 inch photo. Mayor Gibbons advised Mr. Hector that he would be called when a decision had been reached on hiring a policeman for the City of PearLand. , Mayor Gibbons opened the floor for discussion on the dam project on Clear Creek. Afteraa Lengthy discussion it was agreed that the City Council would try to meet with the Lions Club next Tuesday night to hear guest speaker John Coffee with American Canal Company. 156 The LuLac Club was discussed with regard to piling of garbage behind the Club building and Littering the premises with beer cans. It was agreed by the LuLac members to char up the premises and arrange for weekly garbage pick up. Mayor Gibbons next discussed Mr. Little's proposal to deed the City of Pearland a 10' strip for right of way along the South side of Oragge Street extending east of the sewerage disposal plant. Alderman Alexander indicated that the Alexander interest would probably be receiptive to widening the street and granting right 9f way if the problems involving their rice canal cambe resolved.
