MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND HELD
OCTOBER 5, 1961
The regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was called
to order at 7:30 P. M. in:the City Hall by Mayor Gibbons with the
following city officials and guests in attendance.

The minutes of the September 21, 1961 meeting were redA-
corrected and approved.
The Street and Bridge Committee reported that the st;eet signs
and pipe have been received and are beigg prepared for installation.
Mayor Gibbons presented a revised fire zone ordinance for Jthe
Council to inspect and consider. Mr. L. C. Hawkins moved that
Ordinance No. 44 setting out a city fire zone as prescribed by State
Fire Code be adopted. The motion was seconded by Alderman Nolen.

Mayor Gibbons next discussed the Regency Park Subdivision
problem and opened the meeting for discussion. After due discussion
all parties agreed to donate ten (10) feet of right of way along City 40'
right.of way to.extend Plum Street. It was also agreed that all parties
concerned will get together and decide how paving costs for the streets
will be allocated.
Mayor Gibbons next discussed the need for a City Health Officer.
It was agreed that Mayor Gibbonsshould approach Dr. Rau and ask him
to be PearLand City Health Officer.
Mayor Gibbons instructed the Secretary to send a certified copy
of the Fire Zone Ordinance No. 44 to the State Board of Insurance and
a copy of the City map showing the new cittx Limits.
Mayor Gibbons discussed an urban planning meeting to be held in
the Shamrock Hilton Hotel. The Houston planning commission advised
that the purpose of the meeting was to plan long range thorough fares and
major highways to handle this area for the next twenty years. The meeting
will be held October 24, 1961 and all city officials are urged to attend.
A city wr--ticker ordinance was next discussed. The wrecker pro-
cedure now being used in Houston was elaborated upon by the Chief of

Police. It was agreed to contact all interested businesses and prepare an
appropriate ordinance.
Mayor Gibbons requested that the City attorney prepare an
oridinance on dogs for Council consideration.
A motion was made by Alderman Hawkins and seconded by Alder-
man Nolen that the following bills be paid:
