1961-07-06 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PEARLAND CITY COUNCIL HELD JULY 6, 1961, IN THE CITY HALL The regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order at 8:00 P.M. in the City Hall by Mayor E. T. Gibbons with the following city officials and guests in attend- ance: Mayor Councilmen Attorney Chief of Police Judge Guest E. T. Gibbons W. E.Parker, L. C. Hawkins, D. L. Smith, Jr. and V. A. Nolen Jack Harrison M. W. Robertson P. E. Siegelquist David Finch,Jr. 121 The minutes of the meeting of June 16 and June 30, 1961 were read, corrected and approved. Mayor E. T. Gibbons asked next for committee reports. Alderman L. C. Hawkins reported that work was progressing with the road bond committee work with meetings scheduled each Monday night. Alderman D. L. Smith reported that efforts to solve the Telephone problem was still being investigated and nothing definite had been determined to resolve the problem. City Treasurer L. C. Hawkins reported that as of July 1, 1961 the city had $1831.69 in the bank. Mayor Gibbons next discussed the car radio problem. Mr. Finch expressed the belief that the receiver in Angleton was not of the narrow band variety and was not sensitive, therefore we are not getting the performance desired. It was agreed that Carter Communications should be contacted with regard to a heavy duty set. A motion was made by Mr. L. C. Hawkins and seconded by Mr. W. E. Parker that the Holman warrent Clearing house be paid the warrant fee for any warrents that are issued to them and processed to conclusion. Aldermen L. C. Hawkins, W. E. Parker, and David Smith voted "Aye" Alderman Nolen voted "No" the "Ayes" being in the majority the motion carried. P. M.
