1961-05-18 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES113 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND HELD MAY 18, 1961 The regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by the Mayor in the City Hall with the following guests and officials in dtendance: Mayor E. T. Gibbons Aldermen W. E. Parker Check # Tom Alexander Brazoria Co. W.C. & ID L. C. Hawkins 4.50 David L. Smith 273 V. A. Nolen - Chief of Police M. W. Robertson Attorney Jack Harrison Guests Henry Jordan 10.00 Mrs. Harry Holman 275 Mr. Harry Holman = $ P. E. Segetquist - The minutes of the meeting of May 4 were read and "approve- d-.` The minutes of the Special Meeting of May 11, 1961 were read &ml approved as read. Check # A motion was made by Alderman Alexander and seconded by Alderman Parker that an Engineer be retained to survey the right of way to open Orange Street across the railroad between Highway 35 and Washington Street. WHEREUPON the question was asked and the motion carried with all present voting "AYE," A motion was made by Alderman Nolen and seconded by Alderman Parker that the following bills be paid: Check # 271 P. E. SegeLquist $220.00 Check # 272 Brazoria Co. W.C. & ID $ 4.50 Check # 273 Houston Light & Power $ 2.64 Check # 274 Alvin Memorial Hosp. $ 10.00 Check # 275 O. V. Robinson $ 1.50 Check # 276 Alvin Sun $ 6.00 Check # 277 Houston Light & Power $ 58.56 Check # 278 Shark Camera $ 22.46 Check # 279 M. W. Robertson $ 14.73 Check # 280 M. W. Robertson $262.50 WHEREUPON the question was asked andthe motion carried with all present voting "AYE." Mayor Gibbons next discussed the Warrant officers progress in processing PearLand Warrants. After due discussion, Mr. Holman states he wou Ld process all cash received through the Corporate Court recorder rather than with holding his fee from the collections. It was also agreed that new warrants would be processed promptly and pro- cessed warrants returned to the City promptly. 114 A motion was made by Alderman NoLen and seconded by Atderman _Hawkins that the City purchase an Aertron 7 N 20 TVR two-way Mobil radio on frequency 37,260 for $480,00 installed in the City police car. WHERE- UPON the question was asked and the motion carried with aLl present voting "AYE". A motion was made by Alderman ALexander, seconded by Alderman Smith that the MaycAbe authorized to seLect and purchase red Lights and siren for the City police car. WHEREUPON the question was asked and the motion carried with aLL present voting "AYE". With no further business to come before the meeting, same was adjourned at 11:00 P.
