PEARLAND CITY COUNCIL HELD May 11, 1961
A special meeting of the Pearland City Council, the Chamber of
Commerce and the Drainage District was called to order at 7:45 p, m. in the
PearLand State Bank with the following City officials and guests in attendance:

Mayor Gibbons explained that the Special Meeting was called for the
purpose of discussing a new railroad crossing at Orange Street and the details
involved in opening the new street.
The Drainage District people indicated they thought the railroad should
install the drainage tiles and grade in their right-of-way. In the event this cannot
be negotiated the Drainage District will be ready to discuss the matter further.
Mayor Gibbons instructed the Secretary to contact the County Engineer
with regard to surveying Orange Street for opening the street along the correct
right-of-way.
Other possible crossings were discussed, particularly Walnut Street.
Swinging Lights at this crossing also was discussed.
With no further business to attend, the meeting was turned over to Mr.
Frederickson of the Chamber of Commerce at 9:30 P. M.
