MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, 'TEXAS

The regular meeting of the Aearland City Council was called to order
at 7:30 P. M. in the City Hall with the following City OfficiaLs.and guests in
attendance:

The minutes of the April 6, 1961, meeting were read and approved as
read.
Mayor Gibbons next asked for a report from the various committees.
Chief Robertson_ reported that delivery on the poLiceuiiforms could be expected
within ten days..
Alderman Smith was appointed by Mayor Gibbons to price competitive
work for painting city signs on the sides of the City police car vs, the cost of
decals for this purpose.
Mr. E.dLteman next discussed how various road districts in the County
constructed new. roads and what a tax schedule would Look Like.for a $1,000,000.00
and a $2,000,0.00.00 improvement program. After due discussion it was decided
that Mayor Gibbons would contact the Mayors of ManveL and Brookside Village for
a joint meeting to discuss the advantages and dis-advantages of a road district bond.
Mr. EddLeman agreed to attend a joint meeting to discuss methods ofhandling such
a bond election..
Mayor Gibbons next presented a State Highway Department proposal tofu'
instaLL double red Lights at the intersection of State Highways 35 and 518. A motion
was made by Alderman Smith and duly seconded by Alderman Hawkins that a^
resolution be adopted entering into an agreement with the State of Texas; pertaining
to granting to the State the exclusive right to operate, maintain and con_troL ttie--
traffic signal at the intersection of State Highway 35 and Farm Markey Road 5a-
Main
a Main and Broadway Streets in the -City of Pearland) as per written -agreement
entered into on this date. WHEREUPON the question was asked and the motion
carried with aLl CounciLmen voting 'SAYE" with no "NOES."

A motion was made by Alderman Parker and seconded by Alderman
Alexander that the proposed general budget for the City be accepted. WHEREUPON
the question was asked and the motion carried with all present voting "AYE".

A motion was made by Alderman Nolen and seconded by Alderman
Parker that the Police budget be adopted as revised in discussion WHEREUPON
the question was asked and the motion carried with all present voting "AYE" (The
revision being increasing the expense for gasoleneand oil. )
A motion was made by Alderman Parker and seconded by Alderman
Hawkins that Mr E G Enriquez be appointed special policeman for the City of
Pearland to serve at the Lulac's Club All aldermen voted "AYE" , with no
"NOES".
City Attorney Harris was instructed to investigate the price of a
penal code book to be purchased by the City of Pearland, Texas
The Motion was made by Mr Nolen and seconded by Alderman
Parker that the following listed bills be authorized for payment by the City
Treasurer
