1961-01-05 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PEAR LAND CITY COUNCIL HELD IN THE CITY HALL 014 -JA-]VARY 5, 1961 The January 6, 1961 meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Gibbons in the City Hall at 7:30 P. M. With the follow- ing guests and City officials in attendance: Mayor E. T. Gibbons Councilmen L. C. Hawkins, David L. Smith Tom Alexander, Victor A. Nolen Marshall R. V. Johnson Attorney Jack Harrison Judge P. E. Segelquist Guests Mrs. H. C. Holman, H. C. Holman The minutes of the December 15, 1960 meeting were react apd.ap_pro�rQd as read. _ Mayor Gibbons discussed the length of time Council meetings were held and expressed a desire to expedite meetings during 196;x' ------------- Mr. H. C. Holman discussed his traffic warrant clearing.'hoisi� and` the procedure followed to handle city warrants on violators who fail to appear for trial. A motion was made by Mr. L. C. Hawkins and seconded by Mr. Tom Alexander that traffic ordinance be amended to provide that on all future traffic tickets issued by hief of Police or deputy would reflect a minimum fine of $5.00 for failure to appear plus a $10.00 warrant fee. WHEREUPON the question was asked and the motion carried with all present voting "AYE" with no "NOES". A motion was made by Mr. Victor Nolen and seconded by Mr. L. C. Hawkins that an agreement be entered into with Mr. H. C. Holman, M&xxaxk O#sbc infix D/B/A Traffic Warranty Clearing House of Houston to serve as Warrant Officer for the City of Pearland for an indefinite period for a fee of $10.00 per warrant served and fine actually collected or defendant delivered to Pearland jail. WHEREUPON the question was asked and the motion carried with all Alderman voting "AYE" with no "NOES". Mayor Gibbons appointed Mr. David L. Smith, Victor A. Nolen and himself as a special committee to pursue the water problem now under study. Mayor Gibbons instructed the secretary to: 1. Write a letter to State Board of Health regarding nematodes in Brazos River water. 2. Write a letter to the County Engineer inquiring if the Baker Addition East of Pearland has been accepted into the County Road System. A motion was made by Mr. Tom Alexander and seconded by Mr. L. C. Hawkins that the Chief of Police expense allowance be increased by $75.00 per month above the existing expense allowance of $3.00 per chalrge. WHEREUPON the question was asked and the motion carried, with all Aldermen voting 'SAYE" with no "NOES". The Corporate records were audited and the meeting adjourned at 11:45 P.M.
