1960-06-21 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESVy MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND HELD JUNE 21, 1960 -------------------------------------------------------- A special meeting of the City Council of the City of>Pearland, Texas, was called to order by Mayor Gibbons, with the following City Officials present: Mayor E. T. Gibbons Aldermen Dave,L. Smith, Jr., L. C. Hawkins, Tom Alexander, Victor A. Nolen, 1' and W. E. Parker City Attorney Jack Harrison Visitors present were: J. F. Wellman Edward E. Brotton W. C. Neal Mrs. Louise Fuller The purpose of the meeting, as explained by the Mayor, was that of consideration of several petitions which had been presented to the Mayor requesting leave of the City Council to annex to the City of Pearland, Texas. The first petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration. It appearing to the Council that the territory was adjacent':to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Parker and seconded by Alderman Smith that such petition for annexation -be -accepted -and - approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 20 be adopted, effective immediately.`�WHEREUPON,'the question was asked, the vote taken; and all Aldermen present voted "AYE"; with no "NOES".- The motion carried unanimously and the Ordinance No. 20 was declared adopted at 8:30 P. M. The next matter to come before the Council was that of a petition for annexation to be'examined and considered by the Council. It appearing to the Council that the territory was adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Alexander -� and seconded by^Alderman Nolen that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered ! Ordinance N0.721 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked•; the vote taken, and all Aldermen present voted "AYE", with -no "NOES." The motion carried unanimously and the Ordinance No. 217was declared adopted at 8:40 P. M. The next matter to come before the Council was -that of a petiton for annexation to be examined and considered by the Council. It appearing that the territory was adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Parker and seconded by Alderman Alexander that such petition -for annexation be Accepted and approved=and that an ordinance to be -numbered Ordinance No. 22:-beadopted, effective i3mnediately: WHEREUPON, TT the question was asked, the vote taken, all Aldermen present voting "AYE", with no "NOES". The motion carried unanimously and the Ordinance No. 22 was declared adopted at 8:51 P. M. The fourth petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration. It appearing to the Council that the territory was adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Hawkins and seconded by Alderman Parker that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 23 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON the question was asked, the vote taken, and all Aldermen present voted "AYE", with no "NOES". The motion was carried unanimously and the Ordinance No. 23 was declared adopted at 9:03 P. M. The fifth petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration. It appearing to the Council that the territory was adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Smith and seconded by Alderman Hawkins that such petition for annexa- tion be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 24 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked, the vote taken, and all Aldermen present voted "AYE", with no "NOES". The motion was carried unanimously and the Ordinance No. 24 was de- clared adopted at 9:16 P. M. The next petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration, It appearing to the Council after examination that the territory was .adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Alexander and seconded by Alderman Parker that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 25 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked, the vote taken, and all Aldermen present voted "AYE", with no "NOES". The motion was carried unanimously and the Ordinance No. 25 was declared adopted at 9: 25 P. M. The next petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration. It appearing to the Council after examination that the territory was adjacent to existing City Boundary Lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Hawkins and seconded by Alderman Nolen that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 26 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked, the vote taken, and all Aldermen present voted "AYE", with no "NOES". The motion was carried unanimously and Ordinance No. 26 was declared adopted at 9:36 P. M. The next petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration. it appearing to the Council after examination that the territory was adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more.than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Hawkins and seconded by Alderman Nolen that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 27 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked, the vote taken, and all Aldermen present voted "AYE", with no "NOES" The motion was carried unanimously and Ordinance No. 27 was declared adopted at 9:41 P. M. The next petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration. After examination by the Council, it appearing that the territory was adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Nolen and seconded by Alderman Alexander that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 28 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked, and the vote taken, all Aldermen present voting "AYE", with No "NOES". The motion was carried unanimously and Ordinance No. 28 was declared adopted at 9:55 P. M. The next petition for annexation vas presented to the Council for examination and consideration. After examination by the Council, it appearing that the territory was adjacent to existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Alexander and seconded by Alderman Hawkins that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 29 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked, the vote taken, and all Aldermen -present voted "AYE", with no "NOES" The Mayor declared the motion carried unanimously and Ordinance No. 29 was declared adopted at 10:15 P. M., effective immediately. The next petition for annexation was presented to the Council for examination and consideration. After examination by the Council, it appearing that the territory was adjacenttp existing City boundary lines and not more than one-half mile in width, a motion was made by Alderman Hawkins and seconded by Alderman Nolen that such petition for annexation be accepted and approved and that an ordinance to be numbered Ordinance No. 30 be adopted, effective immediately. WHEREUPON, the question was asked, the vote taken, and all Aldermen present voted "AYE", with no "NOES". The mayor declared the motion carried unanimously and Ordinance No. 30 was declared adopted at 10:30 P. M., effective immediately.
