called to order by Mayor Gibbons on
P. M. in the Pearland Junior High School
following City Officials present: -
E. T. Gibbons
W. E. Parker, L. C. Hawkins, _
D. L. Smith, -Tom Alexander and,.
Victor A. Nolen
City Attorney Jack Harrison
Guests presents were: Mr. Jackson Hinds, Clifford A.
Brandt, J. M. Young, Alec Chessor and C. Crenshaw.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved.
A motion was made by Alderman Parker and seconded by
Alderman Alexander that the minutes of January 28, 1960, be amended
to read as follows:
"The City Attorney's salary to be fifty dollars
$50.00 per month regardless of the number of meetings per month."
WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all
present voting "AYE", with no "NOES".
Mr. Hinds, with the Houston Natural Gas Corporation,
was next introduced to the Council. Mr. Hinds discussed their
review of Gas Service in Pearland and the hardship placed upon
them by the gas rate ordinance adopted by the City of Pearland.
Mr. Brandt, a recognized rate authority discussed Houston
Natural's operations in Pearland with regard to income from gas
sales, expenses and overhead and the resulting net revenues and
return on investment to the company.
A motion was then made by AYbrman Hawkins and seconded
by Alderman Smith that the City Ordinance No. 15 heretofore
adopted by the City Council be rescinded and that the gas rates
passed on March-_1Q._.1960,._be continued in full force and effect
as though a rate -ordinance had never been passed. WHEREUPON,
the question was asked and'the motion carried, all present
voting "AYE", with no "NOES".
Mr. Hinds next presented their version of Municipally
owned gas systems operations and the undesirable features of
such a venture.
Alderman Parker next reported to the Council that the
situation with regard to street repairs was status -quo. No
contact had been made with Commissioner Bill Isaacs as of late
to determine when county equipment would be moved to Pearland
to repair the streets.

There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the same was adjourned at 11:00 P. M., subject to
call..
