OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND HELD
MARCH 31, 1960
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pearland
was called to order by Mayor Gibbons at 7:30 P. M. in the Pearland
Junior High School Board Room on March 31, 1960, with the following
City Officials present:

Guests present were: Mr. F. B. Clark and Mr. Henry Jordan.
A motion was made by Mr. Hawkins and seconded by Alderman
Parker that the pending bills to the Steck Company .and Attorney
Clegg for preparing the telephone ordinance be paid. WHEREUPON,
the question was asked and the motion was carried, all present
voting "AYE", with no "NOES".
Mr. F. B. Clark.was next introduced to the Council as a
prospective candidate for County Sheriff. Mr. Clark expressed
a desire to improve the efficiency of County law officers and
operation of the Sheriff's Department.
Mr. Henry Jordan, candidate for County Commissioner, Precinct
No. 3, was next introduced to the Council. Mr. Jordan gave a
resume of his qualifications and expressed a desire to serve the
people of Precinct #3.
A motion was next made by Alderman Parker that a special
meeting be called for Tuesday, April 5th, in order to canvass the
official election returns and compile a report. The motion was
seconded by Alderman Hawkins, WHEREUPON the question was asked
and the motion carried, all present voting "AYE", with no "NOES".
The Street and Bridge Committee advised that Alderman Parker
had been selected as Chairman of that Committee.
Mayor Gibbons next instructed the Secretary to prepare a
letter to the Brown & Root Company regarding repair of the street
on the East side of the railroad and adjacent to the old cemetary
that was damaged when the gas line was installed recently.
There being no further business to come before the meeting,
the same was adjourned at 11:00 P. IA., subject to call.
