MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY
OF PEARLAND HELD MARCH 10, 1960
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Pearland, Texas, was called to order by Mayor Gibbons at
7:30 P. M. in the Pearland Junior High School Board Room on
March 10, 1960, with the following City Officials present:
Mayor E. T. Gibbons
Alderman L. C. Hawkins
Alderman W. E. Parker
Alderman David L. Smith, Jr.
Alderman Tom Alexander
-Alderman Victor A. Nolen
The Minutes of the meeting .of March 3, 1960, were
read and approved.
Visitors present were Mr. Vernon Halik, Mr.
Harvey Halik and Mr. T. 0. Knapp. These gentlemen expressed
their interest in the City's development and asked several
questions concerning control of speed on the State Highway
within the City and extension of City boundaries.
The first matter to come before the meeting was
the discussion by the Council of an ordinance fixing rentals
to be paid by gas.companies and providing penalties for violation.
A motion was made by Alderman Parker and seconded by Alderman
Alexander that such an ordinance be adopted fixing rentals
to be paid by gas companies for the privilege of using, with
their pipes, gas pipelines and fixtures, the streets, easements
and alleys and other public ways within the City of Pearland,
Texas, providing penalties for violation and providing an
emergency. The question was asked and the motion carried,
all present voting "AYE", with no "NOES".
Alderman Hawkins next made a motion that an
ordinance be adopted fixing rates,that may be charged and
collected by any person, partnership, or corporation supplying
natural gas to the citizens and residents of the City of
Pearland for domestic and commercial consumption. The motion
was seconded by Alderman Parker, WHEREUPON, the question was
asked and the motion was carried, all present voting "AYE",
with no "NOES".
There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the same was adjourned subject to call.
