OF PEARLAND HELD DECEMBER.21st, 1959'
The special meeting of the City Officials of the City
of Pearland, Texas, was called to order by Mayor E. T.
Gibbons at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on December 21st, 1959, with`
the following City Officials present: <;

The first matter to come before the meeting was that
of adopting an ordinance accepting the provisions of Title
28 of the Revised Statutes of Texas. A motion was .made by
Alderman W. E. Parker, that such an ordinarc a be adopted
accepting the provisions of Title 28 of the Revised Statutes
of Texas relative to Cities, Towns and Villages for the City
of Pearland. After a general discussion, the motion was
seconded by Alderman L. C. Hawkins, WHEREUPON the question
was asked and the motion was carried, all present voting "AYE",
with no "NOES". WHEREUPON, adoption of the ordinance was so
resolved, and it was instructed that a brief of the Ordinance
be placed in the Ordinance Journal, with the official original
to be placed in a safe depository, and an official copy to be
filed with the County Clerk.
The next matter to come before the meeting was that
of filling the office of City Secretary of the City of
Pearland. A motion was.made by Alderman L. C. Hawkins that
Victor A. Nolen be appointed to act as City Secretary, and,
after a general discussion on the motion, the same was
seconded by Alderman Tom Alexander, WHEREUPON the question
was asked and the motion was carded, all present voting "AYE",
with no "NOES".
Alderman Tom Alexander next moved that the City
Secretary be reimbursed for miscellaneous expenses created
while the City is without funds. The motion was seconded by
Alderman Parker, WHEREUPON the question was asked and the
motion was carried, all present voting "AYE", with no "NOES".
The City Secretary was instructed to maintain a list of
expenses so incurred until the City is receiving revenue.
The next matter to come before the meeting was that of
contracting various utility companies for the City of Pearland.
A motion was made by Alderman Alexander that letters be sent
to all utility companies interested in serving the City of
Pearland, indicating that the city officials would entertain
written propositions concerning contracts for review, a meeting
to be arranged at a later date by the City Officials to discuss
the various proposals. After a general discussion on the
motion, the same was seconded by Alderman Parker, WHEREUPON
the question was asked and the motion was carried, all present
voting "AYE", with no "NOES".

There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the same was adjourned at 9:00 o'clock P. M.,
subject to call.
