R94-29 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PEARLAND, TEXAS, REQUESTING THAT THE BRAZORIA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT ESTABLISH A ROAD DISTRICT TO ENABLE THE SEVERAL CITIES OF NORTH BRAZORIA COUNTY TO ADDRESS THEIR REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION NEEDS. WHEREAS, the need for additional regional transportation arterials that are necessary for the movement of goods and people throughout North Brazoria County and surrounding areas is becoming increasingly critical, and WHEREAS, the various cities of North Brazoria County do not individually possess the resources or jurisdiction to construct the needed regional transportation arterials, and WHEREAS, the availability of construction funding from Federal, State, and local programs has become more difficult to acquire or is non-existent, and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the several cities of. North Brazoria County to join together in the establishment of a Road District to fund the needed regional transportation arterials, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Council expresses its approval and requests that the Brazoria County Commissioners Court establish a Road District from all or parts of currently inactive Districts to enable the several cities of North Brazoria County to collectively identify and construct regional roadways; Section 2. That the proposed Road District be established in accordance with the attached map and field notes designated collectively as Exhibit "A" and that all or parts of existing boundaries within the new district be dissolved.
