2000-08-03 ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT REGULAR MEETING MINUTESMINUTES - REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 3, 2000, AT 6:00 PM, IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order with the following present: Chairperson Vice -Chairperson Board Member Board Member Board Member Code Enforcement Officer Secretary II NEW BUSINESS Gil Boyles Suzanne Tullis Marvin Elam Harold Slagle Richard Cimprich John Harrist Mona Ann Phipps A. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - V00-23, Request of Pearland Lumber Co., Inc., for a variance from Table VII, for 77.25 square feet over the allowed square foot of signage, at 2027 Main LarryLoesine of Pearland Lumber Company, Inc., explained that their marketing conditions have changed with new competitors. He stated that most customers do not know that they are in the lumber business. A discussion ensued regarding the proposed sign location and structure. Chairperson Gil Boyles made a motion, seconded by Vice -Chairperson Suzanne Tullis, to approve V00-23. Motion passed 5 to 0. B. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - V00-24, Request of Grote Remodeling and Construction, agent for Kevin and Kerry Mohammadian, for a variance from Section 22.6 Building Facades, to allow a new building to be built without masonry or glass on the right side, at 2020 Broadway No one was present to speak in behalf of this request. Vice -Chairperson Suzanne Tullis made a motion, seconded by Board Member Marvin Elam, to deny V00-24. -1- Motion passed 5 to 0. C. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - V00-259 Request of Mike Doyle of Development Consultant, Inc., agent for Centex Homes, for a variance from Section 8.4.2.(a) Yard (setback) requirements, for all lots in Rivermist, Section 2 David Mallard, 8330 Spring Wind Drive, Houston, explained that he is the land surveyor responsible for the design of Section 1 and 2. He read a letter explaining the variance request. The letter stated that the house plans, the preliminary plans and construction plans were designed with 20' front setbacks. A discussion ensued regarding why Section 1 was approved with 20' front setbacks. Chairperson Gil Boyles made a motion, seconded by Vice -Chairperson Suzanne Tullis, to table V00-25 until the City Attorney and/or a Planning and Zoning Board Member could be present. Motion passed 5 to 0. D. DISCUSSION ITEM III ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 6:34 PM.
