A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, DETERMINING CHARGES FOR WATER
SERVICE FURNISHED BY THE CITY, AS PROVIDED IN
CHAPTER 30, ARTICLE II, SECTION 30-38 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING AN EFPECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, CHAPTER 30, Article II, Section 30-38 of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Pearland, Texas, provides that
the rates and charges for the consumption of utility services fur-
nished by the City shall be determined by the City Council from
time to time, and the same shall be on file in the office of the
City Secretary; and
WHEREAS, it has been heretofore determined by the City
Council that present economic factors dictate a need for an increase
in present charges for water service furnished by the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the increase
in charges for water service would be, in all respects, in the best
interest of the City.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
I.
All property upon which any building has been or may
hereafter be erected having a connection with any mains or pipes
presently existing or which may be hereafter constructed and used
in connection with the City water system shall pay the following
rates each month for water service furnished by the City:
Up to and including first 3,000 gallons .... $6.00
Next 7,000 gallons ........ 1.00 per 1,000 gals.
Next 10,000 gallons ........... 90 per 1,000 gals.
Next 5,000 gallons ........... 80 per 1,000 gals.
Next 5,000 gallons .......... 70 per 1,000 gals.
Next 10,000 gallons ........... 60 per 1,000 gals.
Over 40,000 gallons .......... 50 per 1,000 gals.
The rate of $6.00 shall be the minimum monthly rate for
all water users including the users for less than a monthly period;
except that in the case of a multi-unit building, residence, busi-
ness, or both, the minimum rate shall be $6.00 per month or fraction
thereof for each residence and/or business unit under actual occu-
pancy and/or use in such building.

If the consumer's water meter becomes inoperative and
fails to register, the consumer will be charged at the average
monthly consumption as shown by the meter when in order. All
Water that passes through the meter shall be charged for, whether
used or not.
II.
That this Resolution shall be effective on and after
October 15, 1981.
