R82-02 01-25-82 RESOLUTION NO. R82-2 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS ENDORSING A 10-YEAR FLOOD CHANNEL PLAN WITH 100-YEAR CONTROL AS AN ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVE FOR THE ENI~ARGEMENT AND RECTIFICATION OF CLEAR CREEK. WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Pearland is in concurrence with the development of a flood channel improvement on Clear Creek from Mykawa Road in Pearland to Clear Lake which would greatly reduce the impact on our City from the inundation by a 100- year flood; and WHEREAS, the governmental body of the City of Pearland is in full support of the proposed 10-year channel with 100-year developmental control imposed by the various governmental agencies; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pearland feels an immediate need for the proposed Corps of Engineer's plan as developed; and WHEREAS, it is vital to the development of the City of Pearland that some flood control project be performed between Pearland and Clear Lake as soon as physically possible. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: That the proposed plan, based on a 10-year channel with 100- year control and the new channel opening into Clear Lake, is fully supported by the Pearland City Council and that the City Council further urges immediate action so that flood damages in this water shed can be reduced.
