A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
RATIFYING THE ADOPTION OF THE CITY'S FISCAL YEAR 2012
BUDGET THAT WILL REQUIRE RAISING MORE REVENUE FROM
PROPERTY TAXES THAT IN THE FISCAL YEARS' 2011 BUDGET.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, the City Council, on the same date as and prior to its consideration and
adoption of this Resolution, adopted the Fiscal Year 2012 Budget for the City of Pearland,
Brazoria County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2012 Budget will require raising more revenue from
property taxes than in the Budget of the City, for the Fiscal Year 2011; and
WHEREAS, Section 102.007 (c), Texas Local Government Code, as amended,
provides that the adoption of a budget that will require raising more revenue from property
taxes than in the previous year requires a separate vote of the governing body to ratify the
property tax increase reflected in the budget, and that such vote is in addition to and
separate from the vote to set the tax rate as required by Chapter 26, Tax Code, or other
law; and
WHEREAS, in orderto complywith this legal requirement it is necessary forthe City
Council to take the actions accomplished and evidenced by this Resolution; and now
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS;
Section 1 . In accordance with the requirements of Section 102.007 (c), Texas
Local Government Code, as amended, the adoption of the City of Pearland's Fiscal Year
2012 Budget, which will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the Fiscal
Year 2011 Budget, is hereby ratified.
Section 2 . This Resolution shall become effective as of the first day of October,
