R83-05 01-31-83 NOTICE OF SPECIAL CITY ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTIES OF BRAZORIA & HARRIS CITY OF PEARLAND TO THE RESIDENT QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: TAKE NOTICE that a Special Election will be held on the 2nd day of April, 1983, in conjunction with the Regular City Officers' Election at 2337 N. Galveston Avenue (Pearland High School), in the City of Pearland, Brazoria and Harris Counties, Texas. Said Election will be held in the manner set forth in the attached copy of a Resolution ordering a Special Election, duly entered by the City Council of the City of Pearland on the 31st day of January, 1983, where at said Election the following question shall be sub- mitted to the resident qualified electors of the City of Pearland for their action to-wit: "FOR ) ) a change in the compensation of the Mayor from ) - $100.00 to $300.00 per month, and the City Council ) from $75.00 to $250.00 per month." "AGAINST) ~orothy L. C ~ J II. The above proposed question shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Pearland at the time and in the manner required by law and in accordance with the procedure other- wise employed in connection with the election of City officers. The presiding judge of the regular City Election shall appoint two addi- tional clerks to assist in the voting on the above proposed question. III. The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause notice of this special election to be published in the official City news- paper according to law. IV. That immediately after said election is held, the offi- cers holding same shall make returns of the results thereof to the Mayor of this City as required by the Election Code. A certified copy of this Resolution shall also serve as a writ of election which shall be delivered to the duly appointed presiding judge for said special election. V. The manner of holding said election shall be governed, as near as may be, by the General Election laws of the State of Texas, as it relates to the holding of general and special munici- pal elections. VI. That it is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this Resolution is passed, was open to the public and held and called pursuant to law. DEL ALCALDE Y DEL CABILDO MUNICIPAL; DESIGNANDO LAS HORAS Y EL LUGAR PARA EFECTUAR DICHA ELECCION; Y CONTENIENDO OTROS ORDENAMIENTOS RELATIVOS AL ASUNTO. POR CUANTO, el dia 24 de enero de 1983, durante una reunion ordinaria del Cabildo Municipal de la Ciudad de Pearland, Texas , debidamente convocada y efectuada en cum- plimiento a. la ley, el Cabildo Municipal unanimamente aprobo una mocion para aumentar la compensacion. del Alcalde de $100 . 00 a $300. 00 por mes, y la compensacion de cada Concejal de $75 . 00 por mes a $250 .00 por mes; y POR CUANTO, la Seccion 3. 04 del Acta Constitutiva de Autonomla de la Ciudad de Pearland, Texas, establece en parte que cualesquier cambios en la compensacion del Ca- bildo Municipal estara sujeto a la aprobacion de los elec- tores por una simple mayorIa en la proxima eleccion ordi- naria; y POR CUANTO, el Cabildo Municipal desea presentar dicha cuestion de compensacion a los electores capacitados de la Ciudad en la eleccion ordinaria a efectuarse el 2. de abril de 1983; AHORA, POR LO TANTO, POR LA PRESENTE QUEDA RESUELTO POR EL CABILDO MUNICIPAL DE LA CIUDAD DE PEARLAND, TEXAS: I. El juez presidente de la Eleccion Municipal ordinaria nombrara a dos auxiliares adicionales. para asistir en la votacion sobre la anterior cuestion propuesta. III . El Secretario Municipal queda por la presente instrul- do a llevar. a efecto que sea publicado el aviso de esta eleccion especial en el peri6dico oficial de la Ciudad de acuerdo con la ley. IV. Que inmediatamente despuds de que sea efectuada dicha eleccion, los oficiales que efecten la misma deberdn entregar los resultados obtenidos al Alcalde de esta Ciudad segun to requerido por el Codigo Electoral. Una copia certificada de esta Resolucion tambidn servira como un mandato de eleccion el cual sera entregado al juez presi- dente debidamente nombrado para dicha eleccion especial. V.
