Ord. 0009A 1965-01-28ORDINANCE NUMBER 9-A AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS PROVIDING FOR THE REWARD OF TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS FOR ANY PERSON WHO IS ARRESTED AND IS FOUND GUILTY OF THE OFFENSE OF ARSON WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF SUCH RE- WARD AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That there does not now exist within the City of Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas, a proper and suitable incentive for the arrest and conviction of persons found guil- ty of the crime of arson and the City Council has found it ex- pedient, both as a preventative measure and as a means of properly rewarding those who will assist law enforcement agencies of said City in the arrest and conviction of any per- son or persons found guilty of the offense of arson in said City and it is deemed to the best interest and general welfare of said City that a reward be made as a standing offer to all persons who assist in the arrest and conviction of any person found guilty of commiting the crime of arson within the cor- porate limits of the City of Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas, and that placards eight by twelve inches be printed and pro- perly displayed to such effect. SECTION 2: The City of Pearland, Texas, hereby offers a reward of Two Hundred Fifty ($250.00) Dollars for the arrest and conviction of any person or persons found guilty of com- mitting the crime of ARSON within the corporate limits of said City of Pearland, Texas. This reward is a standing offer, and shall be paid out of the General Fund of the City of Pearland, Texas. -1- SECTION 3: The fact that there does not now exist in the City of Pearland, an Ordinance or provision to properly and suitably reward those persons assisting in the arrest and con- viction of persons found guilty of the crime of arson in the City of Pearland and it having been determined by the Council that a necessity exists for such offer of such reward consti- tutes an emergency and the rule requiring that the Ordinances be read on three separate meetings by and the same is hereby suspended and this Ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its approval and passage.
