Ord. 0034A 1963-09-19ORDINANCE NUMBER 35f3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE NUMBER gs+ HERETOFORE PASSED BY THE CITY OF PEARLAND, BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS, ON OCTOBER 27, 1960. C.61 WHEREAS, ORDINANCE NUMBER 3,1 of the City of Pear Land, Brazoria County, Texas, pertaining to the prima facie speed Limits estabLi- shed for vehicles under the provisions of Section 8 of Article 827a, Vernon's Texas Penal Code, has become out moded and out dated and that a need exists to set new speed Limits in areas of public schools and the residents and traffic in those immediate vicinities: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, that said Ordinance Number 351 is hereby amended as follows: (L) In the School Zones hereinafter named, of the pubLic schooLs of the City of PearLand, Brazoria County, Texas, the speed Limits are amended to show a maximum speed of Twenty (20) Miles Per Hour during the hours of 7:30 A. M. until 3:30 P. M. on school days from Monday to Friday on the foLLowing streets, highways, roads and thoroughfares within the City of PearLand, Texas: Farm Road 518 (Broadway Street) from Grand Boulevard to Galveston Street; Jasmine Street from Grand Boulevard to Galveston Street; PLum Street from Grand Boulevard to Galveston Street; GaLveston Street from Plum Street to Broadway; Park Street from PLum Street to Broadway; Grand Boulevard from PLum Street to Broadway. Any person vioLating the provisions of this Ordinance, or the amendments thereto shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not more than Two Hundred ($200.00) DoLLars; and provided further that aLL clauses, terms and pro- visions appearing in the original speed Zone Ordinance shall continue to 1 remain in full force and effect except those in conflict herewith and any such conflicts are hereby repeated as herein provided. The fact that there is not now adequate provisions for the Limits of speed in the School Zone area constitutes a dire public necessity and the Constitutional rute requiring that Ordinances be read on three separate occasions be, and the same is hereby suspended and this Ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage and approval. 1963.
