R-1962-16 11-01-62A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND. TEXAS
WHEREAS, the City of Pearland, since the date of its incorporation
as a City and many years prior thereto, has been served by the Southwestern
Bell Telephone Company and its Local and toll services have been desirable
and satisfactory to the people of this community; and
WHEREAS, through negotiations between the City Council of the City
of Pearland and theofficials of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
extending over a period of time, a proposition concerning extended telephone
services has been submitted by the Company to the City Council, is which
proposition the Company has indicated a willingness to include the City of
Pearland subscribers in the metropolitan area of the City of Houston under
a plan known and referred to as the Metropolitan Service Plan. and under
which Plan the subscribers of the City of Pearland and community would
have the privilege of calling or receiving calls from the metropolitan area
of the City of Houston without additional toll charges thus making inter-
communication possible between the City of Pearland and the City of Houston.
with the exception of outlying areas not specifically included in the Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Council has studied the Metropolitan Service Plan
submitted by the Company and feels that it would be beneficial and useful to
the telephone subscribers of the City of Pearland and community and to the
people of that area as a whole and desires to express acceptance of such Plan
and a willingness to cooperate with the Company.
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Pearland. Texas, at a regular meeting that such Council go on record
as approving and accepting the Metropolitan Service Plan as submitted by the
Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, suck Plan to be effective as soon as
possible, and asks that the people of this Community extend every possible
cooperation with the company in furthering the Plan and continue the feeling
of close harmony and cooperation between the City of Pearland and the
Southwestern Belt Telephone Company and the Council further expressos
its appreciation for the consideration extended to the City in its request for
such type of service.
