DESIGNATION OF REPRESENTATIVE
HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP BODY
1973
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and the City Council of Pearland, Texas,
that Cecil W. Griffin
, be, and he is hereby, designated as
its representative to the General Membership Body of the Houston -Galveston Area
Council for the year 1973.
FURTHER, that the official Alternate authorized to serve as the voting
delegate should the hereinabove named delegate become ineligible, or should he
resign, is Tom Reid
THAT, the Executive Director of the Houston -Galveston Area Council be
notified of the designation of the hereinabove named delegate and
alternate.

As you are aware, the Annual Meeting of the Houston-Galveston Area
Council is held each year in January at which time delegates for

the ensuing year to both the General Membership Body and the L- `e,
Executive Committee are certified by the membership. � �-

According to the Bylaws, Pearland is entitled to select repre- -'
sentation to the General Membership Body and to the Executive Com- ��--
mittee in the following manner:
a) GENERAL MEMBERSHIP BODY. Your city is entitled to appoint _;
one representative to the General Membership Body. An
alternate representative should also be designated. �-
b) EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. Your city must join with all other
member home rule cities with less than 25,000 population
located within the H-GAC area to select two persons to °:4_r represent jointly all such cities on the Executive Com-
mittee. Alternate representatives should also be desig-
nated. A list of all home rule cities with less than
25,000 population that are members of the Area Council
with whom you should confer to elect your 1973 Executive
Committee representatives is attached.
We will appreciate your notifying us of the names of your delegates
to the Executive Committee and to the General Membership Body prior
to our Annual Meeting, which will be held in mid-January, 1973. For
your convenience, forms for designation of your delegates are attached.

TO ALL HOME RULE CITIES UNDER 25,000
Councilman Asa Yeamans of Alvin and Councilman James Cook of Deer
Park, representatives to the Executive Committee of the Houston-
Galveston Area Council for 1972 for Home Rule Cities Under 25,000;
cordially invite a representative of your city and his wife to be
their guests at a dinner meeting on Monday evening, January 8, 1973,
at the Holiday Inn banquet room in Alvin at 7:30 p.m.
The purpose of this meeting will be to select two representatives
to the H-GAC Executive Committee for 1973 to represent Home Rule
Cities Under 25,000.
Additional representatives from your city are, of course,welcome to
attend at a charge for the actual cost of the dinner, which is anti-
cipated to be less than $5.

Holiday Inn is located in Alvin at the intersection of Highway
and Highway 35 (Business) . It is not on the bypass.
Final arrangements for the meeting must be made with Holiday Inn
by January 5. Therefore, would you please notify Mrs. Barbara
Willock, City Secretary for Alvin, whether you will be able to
attend the meeting. You may return the enclosed reply form or
may call Mrs. Willock in Alvin at 331-3978.
We look forward to seeing you on January 8 in Alvin.

the City of Pearland, Texas, convened in regular session at the
regular meeting place thereof with the following members present
to-wit:

Councilman Griffin introduced a Resolution and Order and
moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Frank
and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the Resolution and
Order prevailed by the following vote,
