A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE GOALS
PROMULGATED DURING THE CITY'S 2011 ANNUAL PLANNING
WORKSHOP.
WHEREAS, the City Council realizes the necessity of identifying primary goals
and priorities to ensure the constant pursuit of improving the quality of life for the
citizens of Pearland; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a workshop with City staff on March 19, 2011,
at which time specific goals and objectives for the City's future were enumerated; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby adopts and embraces the
2011 City Council's Goals attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 11th day of April, A.D., 2011.

A. Police Department
4 Continue to focus on crime prevention
initiatives.
4 Focus on proactive public communication
regarding comparative statistics, services
offered and results achieved.
4 Continue to focus on staffing the Street Crime
Unit.
II. Finances
A. Ensure Financial Policies are sound.
B. Continue to communicate through regular "State of
the Finances Snapshot" Workshops.
4 Continue to implement proactive ways to
share information with citizens.
C. Continue effective approach to Budget preparation
including a series of pre -budget workshops
presenting comparative data from internal and
external sources to understand impact of trends on
revenue base.
D. Take strategic approach to issuance of debt.
4 Include impact on debt ratio as part of each
consideration.
4 Clarify whether consideration is from funded
or "new" money.
E. Continue to improve content of fiscal information in
Executive Summaries for Council Agenda Items.
F. Continue to identify and plan for "worst case
scenarios" In Financial Forecasting.

services.

consistent with benefits offered by other cities.

A. Continue to efficiently execute the plan which
is in place.
B. Continue to build relationships with all stakeholders
and actively lobby Elected Officials/TxD0T to
ensure Pearland's priority transportation interests/
needs are met.

C. Consider preliminary engineering on McHard Road
5 mile gap corridor.

E. Staff take a proactive role in aggressively pursuing
funding sources for regional transportation projects

needs.
