R74-02 01-14-7474-2 DESIGNATION OF JOINT REPRESENTATIVES . HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 1974 BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and City Council of Pearland acting :jointly with other home rule cities under 25,000 population according to the 1970 Census which are located within the area served by the Houston - Galveston Area Council, and such cities being members of the Houston -Galveston Area Council, that Councilman James Cook of Deer Park and Councilman Asa Yeamans of Alvin be, and they are hereby, • designated as our representatives to the Executive Committee of the Houston - Galveston Area Council for the year 1974. FURTHER THAT, the official Alternates authorized to serve as our repre- sentatives to the Executive Committee should either or both of the hereinabove named representatives become ineligible or if either or both of. such repre- sentatives resign, are Mayor Alvin Baggett of Galena Park as Alternate for Councilman James Cook and Mayor B. S. Babovec as Alternate for Councilman Asa Yeamans THAT,. the Executive Director of the Houston -Galveston Area Council be notified of the designation of the hereinabove named delegate and_ alternates. Box 157 F1;ARlAND Pearland, Texas 77581 Dear Mayor McComb: At the special Caucus Meeting of the member Home Rule Cities under 25,000 held on January 9, 1974, to elect the H-GAC Executive Committee Delegates and Alternates, Councilman James Cook of the City of Deer Park and Councilman Asa Yeamans of the City of-Alvin were re-elected as delegates, and Mayor Alvin Baggett of the City of Galena Park and Mayor B. S. Babovec of the City of Rosenberg were re-elected as alternates. It is necessary that this action be ratified by member cities concerned as soon as possible in that representatives to the Executive Committee and General Membership Body for the year 1974, will be certified and seated at the Annual Meeting on January 25, 1974. In addition we have not received the appointments of delegates and alternates to the General Membership Body from all of our member Cities. As you recall, member cities over 5,000 are authorized one delegate and one alternate. Both actions need to be accomplished prior to the Annual Meeting. Box 157 Pearland, Texas 77581 Dear Mayor McComb: As you are aware, the Annual Meeting of the Houston-Galveston Area Council is held each year in January at which time delegates for the ensuing year to both the General Membership Body and the Executive Committee are certified for the year, 1974. • According to the H-GAC Bylaws, your City is entitled to select repre- sentation to the General Membership .Body and the Executive Committee in the following manner: • • a) GENERAL MEMBERSHIP BODY. Your city is entitled to appoint one representative to the General Membership Body. An al- ternate representative should also be designated. b) EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. Your city needs to join with all other member home rule cities with less than 25,000 population located within the H-GAC area to select two persons to jointly represent all such cities on the Executive Committee. Alternate representatives should also be designated. A list of all home rule cities with less than 25,000 population that are members of the Area Council with whom you should confer to elect your 1974 Executive Committee representatives is attached. Since it will be necessary to mail out invitations, agendas, etc. , for the Annual Meeting in early January, we will appreciate your no- tifying us of your delegates to the Executive Committee and the Gen- eral Membership Body prior to the end of December. For your conven- ience, forms for designation of your delegates are attached.
