R86-15 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS SUSPENDING RATES OF HOUSTON LIGHTING AND POWER COMPANY FOR NINETY DAYS WITHIN THE CITY OF PEARLAND. WHEREAS, Houston Lighting and Power Company (HL&P) has applied to the Public Utility Commission of Texas for authority to increase electric service rates within the municipal boundaries Of the City of Pearland and has filed a Statement of Intent to change rates within said City, such application pending before the PUC as Docket No. 6765; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pearland, Texas has found and determined that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Pearland to preserve the status quo regarding such rates for a reasonable period of time until the necessity for this proposed rate increase can be ascertained, and that the public welfare will be served thereby; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: THAT, pursuant to authority vested by Article 1446c, V.A.C.S., the rates of Houston Lighting and Power Company within the City of Pearland shall be, and are hereby, suspended for a period of ninety (90) days beginning April 23, 1986, the proposed effective date of such rate increase, and that the status quo with regard to such rates shall be maintained and preserved during such period.
