2000-11-06 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES169 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2000, AT 6:00 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. The meeting was called to order with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid Mayor Pro -Tem Klaus Seeger Councilmember Helen Beckman Councilmember Woody Owens Councilmember Larry Marcott Councilmember Larry Wilkins Interim City Manager Alan Mueller City Attorney Darrin Coker City Secretary Young Lorfing Others in attendance: Project Manager Michael Ross. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: COUNCIL AND POSSIBLE ACTION - PROVIDING A REQUEST TO HOUSTON GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL (H.G.A.C.) REGARDING THE ALLOCATION OF TRANSPORTATION FUNDING FOR THE CITY OF PEARLAND. Mr. Alan Mueller, Interim City Manager. Councilmember Marcott made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Beckman, to request HGAC to leave the $5,000,000 allocated for Pearland Parkway intact for the 2002-04 Transportation Improvement Program. Interim City Manager, Alan. Mueller, gave a presentation regarding the various HGAC funded road projects. He presented detailed information on the Magnolia Overpass, Pearland Parkway and McHard Road projects. Mr Mueller also presented the alternative use of HGAC funding to Council. Lengthy discussion ensued between Council and Staff regarding the HGAC's funding for the projects. After the discussion Council decided it is the most beneficial to the City to leave the funding intact.
