A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO
SUBMIT THREE GRANT PROPOSALS TO THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON
AREA COUNCIL FOR SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT GRANTS AND
EXECUTE ALL AGREEMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH APPLICATIONS.
WHEREAS, the State of Texas has established goals of waste reduction and has
designed and implemented plans to effect these goals; and
WHEREAS, the Houston-Galveston Area Council and its membership, including
the City of Pearland, have developed and are implementing a regional plan to meet
waste reduction goals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pearland City Council has consistently demonstrated
active support of waste reduction efforts consistent with the regional plan; and
WHEREAS, funds to support (1) local law enforcement for illegal dumping and
source reduction and recycling, (2) a citizen hot line, and (3) a composting education
program have been identified through Houston-Galveston Area Council; now,
therefore,
BE IT'RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to apply for
funding, and execute all necessary agreements, under the Houston-Galveston Area
Council Solid Waste Management Grant program.
Section 2. That no cash match of funds is required by the City of Pearland for
approval of this grant.
