A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
PROMULGATED DURING THE CITY'S 1998 ANNUAL PLANNING
WORKSHOP.
WHEREAS, the City Council realizes the necessity of identifying primary goals
and priorities to ensure the constant pursuit of improving the quality of life for the
citizens of Pearland; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a workshop with City staff on February 13-14,
1998, at which time they enumerated specific goals and objectives for the City's
future; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby adopts and embraces the
1998 City Counci/'s Goals and Objectives pursuant to their annual workshop.

to the Community.
PURPOSE: Enhance transportation networks to improve the efficiency of movement
into, out of, and within the City. Improvements are to be consistent with the 1998
Thoroughfare Plan and include construction of new thoroughfares, improvements of
existing thoroughfares, and creation of pedestrian trails.

ESTABLISHED GOAL: Enhance the historical significance of the Old Townsite.
PURPOSE: To provide mechanisms for the preservation and restoration of the
existing Old Townsite through identification of historic structures, the development
of building methods consistent with period construction, and the magnification of the
area through anesthetic improvements. The eventual consequences are to be the
creation of a town center which provides a sense of the historical significance of the
City of Pearland.

create an apartment recycling program.
PURPOSE: To reduce the volume of yard waste and recyclables going into
Landfills, promote composting on a regional basis through cooperative efforts with
other municipalities, and create a program which allows apartment dwellers to
recycle all products accepted by waste haulers.
