R2010-71 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AWARDING A BID FOR CONSTRUCTION SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH THE ALICE STREET WATER PLANT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City opened bids for construction services associated with the Alice Street Water Plant, and such bids have been reviewed and tabulated. Section 2. That the City Council hereby awards the bid to Industrial TX Corp., in the amount of $6,846,000.00. Section 3. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to execute a contract for construction services associated with the Alice Street Water Plant. Eight (8) reputable contractors submitted proposals for this work Attached to thisletter is the Bid Tabulation Sheet for your review. The low bidder based on'the sum cif the base bid, and extra items is Industrial TX Corp We have reviewed the bids, references and requirements based on the contract documents, and: have spoken with the apparent low bidder,and, they are comfortable with the bid. The three alternative bids -adjusted the contract construction substantial completion time from the base bid of 360 calendar days by 30 60, and 90 calendar days with Alternative 1 having a construction substantial completion time of 330 calendar days, Alternative 2 300 calendar days, and Alternative 3 -270: calendar days:. The lowest bidder that submitted a bid on Alternative 1 adds .$404,500;00 to the low base bid and: saves the City 30 calendar days on construction time. 'The lowest bidder that submitted a bid on Alternative 2 adds $510,875.00 to the low base bid and saves the City 60 calendar days on construction time. The lowest bidder that submitteda bid on Alternative 3 adds $610,875.00 to the contract price and saves the City. 90 calendar days on construction time . `Because Alternative ;1 and 2_ adds a significant amount to the contract price andonly saves the City between 30 and 60 calendar days, and. the fact that many bidders_do not bid Alternative 3, CDM recommends that. the subject contract be awarded to Industrial TX Corp based on the base bid plusthe extraitems with a contract priced .$6,846,000.00.
