Ord. 0450-13 07-26-93f t ORDINANCE NO. 450-13 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 450 AS THE SAME MAY HAVE BEEN FROM TIME TO TIME AMENDED FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AND REESTABLISHING CLASSIFICATIONS AND NUMBER OF AUTHORIZED POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF CITY OF PEARLAND, PURSUANT TO SECTION 143.021 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A REPEALING CLAUSE, AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 450 as the same may have been from time to time amended is hereby further amended and, pursuant to the requirements of Section 143.021 of the Local Government code of the State of Texas and there are hereby established the following classifications for employees within the City of Pearland Police Department, with the number of authorized positions for each of the classifications, all of which shall be subject to the provisions of said Municipal Civil Service under the Local Government code, to -wit: No. of Authorized Positions Classification 27 Police Officer 3 Corporal 4 Sergeant 3 Lieutenant Total of 37 Civil. Service Classified Positions SECTION 2. Severability Clause. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause, or any part of any section, sentence, phrase, or clause of this Ordinance shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this Ordinance, and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this City Council to have passed each section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the facts that any other section, sentence, phrase or clause, or part tnereof, may be declared invalid. SECTION 3. Repealing Clause. All ordinances or part of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict; otherwise, the provisions of Ordinance 450 as itf, may have been from time to time amended, shall remain in full force; and effect. SECTION 4. The City Council hereby officially finds, determines, recites and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes annotated; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. SECTION 5. Savings Clause. All rights and remedies which have accrued in favor of the City of Pearland under Ordinance 450, and its amendments, shall be and are preserved for the benefit of the City. SECTION 6. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage on Second and Final Reading. PASSED and APPROVED on First Reading this the /d day of A.D., 1993. C. V.
