Ord. 0450-19 06-24-96ORDINANCE NO. 450-19 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 450 AS THE SAME MAY HAVE BEEN, FROM TIME TO TIME, AMENDED, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AND REESTABLISHING CLASSIFICATIONS AND NUMBER OF AUTHORIZED POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, PURSUANT TO SECTION 143.021 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A REPEALER CLAUSE, AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 450 as the same may have been, from time to time, amended, is hereby further amended and, pursuant to the requirements of Section 143.021 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas, there are hereby established the following classifications for employees with the City of Pearland Police Department, with the number of authorized positions for each of the classifications, all of which shall be subject to the provisions of said Municipal Civil Service under the Local Government Code, to wit: No. of Authorized Positions Classification 40 Police Officer 3 Corporal 5 Sergeant 2 Lieutenant Total of 50 Civil Service Classified Positions (See Pay Classification Plan for Civil Service Employees attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein for all purposes) 1 ORDINANCE NO. 450-19 Section 2. Severability Clause. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause, or any part of any section, sentence, phrase, or clause of this Ordinance shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this Ordinance, and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this City Council to have passed each section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the facts that any other section, sentence, phrase or clause, or part thereof, may be declared invalid. Section 3. Repealer Clause. All ordinances or part of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict; otherwise, the provisions of Ordinance No. 450 as it may have been, from time to time, amended, shall remain in full force and effect. Section 4. Savings Clause. All rights and remedies which have accrued in favor of the City of Pearland under Ordinance No. 450, and its amendments, shall be and are preserved for the benefit of the City. Section 5. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage on second and final reading. PASSED and APPROVED ON FIRST READING this the /fftt day of , A. TCLEOSE BASIC CERTIFICATE $ .00/Month TCLEOSE INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE $ 25.00/Month .14 per hour TCLEOSE ADVANCED CERTIFICATE $ 50.00/Month .29 per hour TCLEOSE MASTER PEACE OFFICER CERTIFICATE $100.00/Month .58 per hour In addition, add the following to the above if the officer holds an Intermediate, Advanced or Master Certificate and has: ASSOCIATE DEGREE $ 50.00/Month .29 per hour BACHELORS DEGREE 5100.00/Month .58 per hour MASTERS DEGREE $175.00/Month 1.01 per hour • All college degrees must be issued by an approved institution of higher education which is dully. accredited by one of the regional accreditation agencies. No mail order degree will be approved. Monthly longevity pay is received by the Classified Employees of the City of Pearland in accordance with the Local Government Code, Chapter 141.032.
