R98-23 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, REQUESTING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD; AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR ASSISTANCE; AND MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH. WHEREAS, the City of Pearland hereby finds and determines that there is an urgent need for the City of Pearland to construct (1) West Lea/Ravenwood trunk sewer; (2) Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant; (3) Barry Rose Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion; (4) Longwood Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion; (5) FM 518 sewer extension, lift station, and Fite-Harkey Interceptor; (6) Cullen Boulevard sewer extension; and (7) inflow/infiltration correction; and WHEREAS, such capital improvements cannot be reasonably financed unless financial assistance is obtained from the Texas Water Development Board; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the recitals contained in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby adopted and confirmed. Section 2. That an application is hereby approved and authorized to be filed with the Texas Water Development Board seeking financial assistance in an amount not to exceed Seventeen Million One Hundred Eight Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($17,108,400.00) to provide for the costs of engineering, construction, and related expenses. That the City Manager, or his designee, be and is hereby designated the authorized representative of the City of Pearland for purposes of furnishing such information and executing such documents as may be required in connection with the preparation and filing of such application for financial assistance and complying with the rules of the Texas Water Development Board. Section 4.
