AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 23, SECTIONS
23-88, 23-91, 23-118 (C), 23-119, 23-129 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS, BY ADDING AND DELETING SPECIFIC PRO-
VISIONS CONTAINED THEREIN, AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS:
SECTION I.
That Section 23-88, Chapter 23 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Pearland, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Sec. 23-88. Waste, vent stack for water closet.
Every building containing no more than two (2) water
'closets may use one three (3") inch waste and vent
stack which shall continue full size to at least
twelve (12") inches above the roof and not less than
ten (10') feet above the ground. Every building
containing more than two (2) water closets shall have
at least one four (4") inch waste and vent stack,
and shall continue its full size at least twelve (12")
inches above the roof and not less than ten (10')
feet above the ground.
SECTION II.
That Section 23-91, Chapter'23 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Pearland, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Sec. 23-91. Cleanout fittings and house drain.
A four (4") inch cleanout plug fitting must be on the
house drain two (2') feet outside the building brought
up flush with the top of the ground and visible. Sink'
cleanouts must be exposed on the outside wall. No tapped
tees shall be used as cleanout fittings. House drain
shall be four (4") inches minimum diameter.
SECTION III.
That Section 23-118 (C), Chapter 23 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Pearland, Texas be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Sec. 23-118,(C). Service line, stop and waste, and
house piping.
The service line from meter to structure must be sized
to furnish enough water to each fixture without having
a pressure drop." Minimum size pipe 3/4" copper or
plastic. Plastic pipe must conform to ASTM standards
of schedule 40 or better PVC. The service beyond
the stop and waste shall be 3/4" galvanized or copper,
type L hard or soft drawn, or approved PVC pipe to
the bathroom and not more than three (3) fixtures
shall be supplied off a 1/2" pipe. All hot water
pipe shall be a 3/4" galvanized, copper, or approved
CPVC from heater to bath. Water service and other
underground pipe shall be buried at least twelve (12" )
inches to a point at side of slab or just under building
than may rise and be strapped to sills or floors joist
securely at proper intervals.: Each fixture shall be
controlled with a stop above the floor.
SECTION IV.
That Section 23-119, Chapter 23 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Pearland, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Sec. 23-119. Basic specifications fez. fittings.
A11 fitting used in the water supply system shall
be galvanized malleable iron fitting, galvanized
cast iron fittings, brass fittings, copper or cast
brass sweat fittings or approved PVC and CPVC fillings.
All connections and branches on lead services must
be made by means of plumber's wiped joints. No pipes
of fittings that have been used for other purposes shall
be used for distributing water.
SECTION V.
That Section 23-129, Chapter 23 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Pearland, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:

SECTION VI.
It is the intention of the City Council, and it is
ordained, that the provisions of this ordinance shall become and
be made a part of the Code of Ordinances, City of Pearland, Texas.
SECTION VII.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption on second and final reading.
