AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND DECLARING A SCHEDULE OF MINIMUM FINES IN AND FOR THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AS AUTHORIZED UNDER ARTICLE 6701d, VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL STATUTES AS AMENDED: PROVIDING THE PENALTY AND FINE: CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS RE- LATING TO THE SUBJECT: PROVIDING A REPEAL- ING CLAUSE AND A SAVINGS CLAUSE: AND PRO- VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, upon the basis of a traffic investigation and recommendation of the Chief of Police of the City of Pearland, Texas, the City Council of the City of Pearland has heretofore determined that the following schedule of fines as listed herein- after should be the minimum fine collected for specified traffic violations; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1: The schedule of minimum fines for the City of Pearland, Texas, shall be as hereinafter stated: SCHEDULE MINIMUM FINES FINE COSTS TOTAL Speeding - For first 10 miles over $15.00 $2.50 $17.50 Legal speed limit. Note: Fine increases $3.00 for each mile in excess of 10 miles over legal speed limit. Negligent Collision $25.00 $2.50 &inning Red Light $15.00 $2.50 Running Stop Sign $15.00 $2.50 Driving wrong side street OR wrong way one way street $10.00 $2.50 $12.50 Illegal turns; illegal Passing, Cutting Corner Defective Head or Rear Lights Driving Without Lights No Operator's or Commercial Operator's License-$25.00 $2.50 $27.50 No Muffler, Defective Muffler or Illegal Muffler Pedestrian Violations License Plat Violations OR No Inspection Sticker $15.00 $2.50 $17.50 $27.50 $17.50 $17.50 $15.00 $2.50 $17.50 $10.00 $2.50 $12.50 $25.00 $2.50 $27.50 -$15.00 $2.50 $17.50 $10.00 $10.00 COSTS LISTED ABOVE ARE REQUIRED BY STATE LAW TO BE COLLECTED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STATE, IN ADDITION TO THE FINE. FAILURE TO APPEAR ON OR BEFORE SET DATE WILL RESULT IN A $10.00 FINE PLUS A $7.50 WARRANT FEE. Section 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby especially repealed.. Section 3: If any section, paragraph, clause, or sen- tence shall be declared void unenforceable or unconstitutional it is hereby declared to the intention of.the City Council of the City of Pearland that the remainder of such ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. Section 4: This ordinance shall be effective and be in full force and effect after passage and approval upon second and final reading.
