A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE CONSTELLATION PROGRAM OF THE
NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION (NASA).
WHEREAS, for more than a half- century, NASA has explored our final frontier and
transformed humankind's understanding of our planet and its place in the universe; and
WHEREAS, on January 29, 2010, NASA's Day of Remembrance, the Apollo 1,
Challenger and Columbia crews as well as other who lost their lives supporting NASA's
mission of exploration and study of the earth, the planets and the stars were honored. All
of humanity has benefited from their courage, devotion and spirit discovery; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 2010, the presidential administration released its 2011
budget and funding of NASA's Constellation Program was eliminated; and
WHEREAS, the loss of such program will result in loss of jobs and significant
impairment of our local economy while the business environment is already fragile; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pearland supports continuing the funding of the
Constellation Program, human spaceflight and all activities which assure that the United
States of America will retain leadership in space exploration; and now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
Section 1. The facts and opinions in the preamble of this resolution are true and
correct.
Section 2. The City of Pearland, Texas hereby supports the Constellation
Program, human spaceflight and all the programs that expand our knowledge of universe
and encourages all citizens to notify their Senators and Congressional Representatives
that it is in the best interest of not only our community, but the entire Country, that the
Constellation Program be continued and the United States of America remain as the world

leader in manned spaceflight.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this the 29 day of March, A.D., 2010.
