PURPOSE OF THE MEETING:
COUNCIL ACTION - RESOLUTION NO. R2000-62-2 - A RESOLUTION AND ORDER
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE
RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY GENERAL ELECTION AND
SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, ON MAY 6, 2000. Mr.
Darrin Coker, City Attorney.
Councilmember Beckman made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Tetens, to
approve Resolution No. R2000 -62 -2 -
City Attorney, Darrin Coker, addressed Council and reported that there were 2,387 valid
and legal votes cast and then gave the election result vote totals:

City Attorney, Darrin Coker further reported that a Runoff Election needs to be called for
City Council Position Two No. 2 since none of the four candidates received a majority of
the votes cast.

Voting "Nd' None.
Motion Passed 5 to 0.
COUNCIL ACTION - ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION TO NEWLY
ELECTED OFFICIALS. Mayor Reid.
Mayor Reid invited Mr. and Mrs. Larry R. Marcott to the front of the Council Chambers and
presented Mr. Marcott with his Certificate of Election.
COUNCIL ACTION - ADMINISTRATION OF OATH OF OFFICE TO NEWLY ELECTED
OFFICIALS. I
Mayor Reid administered the Oath of Office to Larry R. Marcott for Council Position
Number Four (4).
Newly sworn in Councilmember Marcott addressed the audience and stated that it is an
honor to be chosen as the City Councilmember for Position No. 4. He further stated as he
said in his campaign he is looking for a positive move forward and he would like to take the
City in that direction. Councilmember Marcott also stated that he is concerned about
growth, infrastructure and communications. In closing he thanked everyone for their
support and hopes to honor that support and do the job that he was elected to do.
Mayor Reid stated that Councilmember Berger has served well and he appreciates
everything that Councilmember Berger has contributed to the City. He asked
Councilmember Berger if he had any comments he would like to make.
Councilmember Berger gave a brief overview of the accomplishment the City has made
while he served on the Council, and stated all of that is attributed to the hard work and
dedication of the City Council. He said that the City has the best Staff that a city could ever
find. He also reviewed some of the things he learned as a Councilmember; not to take
other Councilmember votes personally, leave everything here when you go home when
you are attacked by the public or whoever just consider the source and consider the
motivation and you will be able to handle it better and last and most important maintain
your sense of humor, because it will keep you focused. In closing he wished Mr. Marcott
a very successful term and thanked all of the Citizens for allowing him to serve them for
the past three years.

COUNCIL ACTION - ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO -TEM. City Council.
Councilmember Wilkins made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Beckman, to
elect Councilmember Seeger as Mayor Pro -Tem.
Voting "Aye" Councilmembers Beckman, Tetens, Marcott, Wilkins.
Voting "No" None.
Voting "Abstain" Seeger.
Motion Passed 4 to 0, with 1 abstention.
COUNCIL ACTION - RESOLUTION NO. R2000-63 - A RESOLUTION AND ORDER OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, ORDERING THE HOLDING
OF A RUNOFF ELECTION ON THE 3RD DAY OF JUNE, 2000, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING A COUNCILMEMBER (POSITION TWO) FOR THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS; ESTABLISHING POLLING PLACES; NAMING CLERKS; AND ESTABLISHING
PROCEDURES FOR SAID RUNOFF ELECTION. Mr. Darrin Coker, City Attorney.
Councilmember Tetens made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Seeger, to
approve Resolution No. R2000-63.
Voting "Aye" Councilmembers Seeger, Wilkins, Marcott, Tetens, and Beckman.
Voting "No" None.
Motion Passed 5 to 0.
COUNCIL ACTION - RESOLUTION NO. R2000-64 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, APPOINTING PERSONS TO SERVE
AT THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION, BRAZORIA COUNTY COURTHOUSE,
ANGLETON, TEXAS, FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE THIRD
DAY OF JUNE, 2000. Mr. Darrin Coker, City Attorney.
Councilmember Seeger made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Tetens, to
approve Resolution No. R2000-64.
Voting "Aye" Councilmembers Beckman, Tetens, Marcott, Wilkins, and Seeger.
