Ord. 0266-1 11-23-81ORDINANCE NO. 266-1 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 5, SECTION 5.8 OF ORDINANCE NO. 266 HERETOFORE ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: SECTION I. That Chapter 5, Section 5.8 of Ordinance No. 266 heretofore duly passed, approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Pearland, Texas, on November 26, 1973, be and the same is hereby expressly amended to read as follows: "5.8 Employee Longevity Pay. All regular employees, in addition to their base salary, shall be paid on the first pay period .in Decemberofeach year Employee Longevity Pay computed upon the basis of Four and No/100 Dollars ($4.00) per month for each year of actual continual service, up to and including 25 years of continual service with the City, provided that no such longevity pay shall accrue prior to the completion of one year of actual 'employment with the City. Payroll deductions for social security, income tax and retirement will be deducted fromthe gross amount accrued." SECTION II. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a Court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION III. All existing ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed only to the extent of such conflict. This ordinance shall be effective and be in full force and effect on December 1, 1981. PASSED and APPROVED on FIRST READING this, day of A. D. 1981.
