R96-8 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL TO THE 1996 HARRIS COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY'S COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FOR REHABILITATION OF THE CITY'S SEWER SYSTEMAND PRIVATE SERVICE LINES IN TWO SERVICE AREAS; AUTHORIZING THE CITYMANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROJECT; AND ALLOCATING FROM THE CITY'S UTILITY FUND, THE CITY'S COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROJECT. WHEREAS, the City's sewer system becomes overloaded during prolonged periods of rain, creating an inconvenience and potential health hazard to residents; and WHEREAS, such overloading can be reduced or eliminated by the rehabilitation of the City's sewer system and private service lines; and WHEREAS, one service area where the sewer system and private service lines are in need of rehabilitation is bounded by Woody Road to the west, Mykawa Road to the east, Scott Street to the south, and the City limits to the north; and WHEREAS, a second service area where the sewer system and private service lines are in need of rehabilitation is bounded by Main Street to the west, Old Alvin Road to the east, Mary's Creek to the south, and Broadway to the north; and WHEREAS, a majority of residents in the above-described areas have low to moderate incomes; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to submit a proposal no the 1996 Harris County Community 1 RESOLUTION NO. R96-8 Development Agency's Community Development Block Grant Program for rehabilitation of the City's sewer system and private service lines in two service areas: one being described as bounded by Woody Road to the west, Mykawa Road to the east, Scott Street to the south, and the City limits to the north; the other being described as bounded by Main Street to the west, Old Alvin Road to the east, Mary's Creek to the south, and Broadway to the north ("Project"). Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee is further authorized to execute all documents associated with the Project. Section 3. That the City's share of costs associated with the Project are hereby allocated from the City's Utilit~ ~nd. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this ~~ day of  , A.D., 1996.
