A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS, SUPPORTING PEARLAND'S INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
DISTRICT GRANT APPLICATION TO THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON
AREA COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF
A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM AT THE JUNIOR HIGH
AND HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES.
WHEREAS, the Peadand Independent School Distdct is submitting an application
to the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments (H-GAC) under the Governor's
Plan for Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act for the implementation of a
School Resource Officer program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council understands that solutions to contemporary school
problems demand that the school district and the Police Department form a partnership
to explore creative, new ways to address school safety concerns; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to encourage the development of police-
school district cooperation to control crime, maintain order, and improve Pearland
Independent School District's learning and working environment.
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council fully supports Pearland Independent School District's
grant application to H-GAC for the implementation of a School Resource Officer program
at the Junior High and High School campuses.
