Al ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PEAP.LA:1D, TEXAS, PROVIDING
FOR TFE RESTRICTION OF PARKING UPON CERTAIN STREETS
AND iiI3;h4AYS, OR PARTS THEREOF, : MIN THE CORPORATE
LIfITS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, AS SET OUT IN THIS
ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF A FINE iIOT
LESS THAN $5 A;D NOT TO EXCEED $25 FOR THE VIOLATION
OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, Article 67010, Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes of the
State of Texas provides that whenever the governing body of the City shall
determine that parking restrictions are required to promote and provide
for free movement of traffic, the City may determine and declare the re=
quired restrictions by passage of an ordinance, which shall be effective
when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected at such locations,
now therefore,
SE IT ORDAINED 3Y THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
Section 1. No person shall stop, park or leave standing any'
vehicle, whether attended or unattended on either side of State Highway
35, Main Street, from the North City Limit to the South City Limit where
signs have been placed prohibiting or restricting such parking.
Section 2. Whenever any police officer finds a vehicle standing
upon that portion of the roadway in violation of the foregoing provision
of the ordinance, such officer is hereby authorized to move such vehicle,
or require the driver or other person in charge of the vehicle to move
same, to a position outside the restricted area.
Section 3. Any person violating any provision of Section 1 of
this ordinance, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof shall be punished iv a find of not less than FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00)
nor more than TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00).
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at the regular meeting of the
Pearland City Council this the 8 day ofs„„ , 1970, to be
effective when published in accordance with the laws of the City of
Pearland and the State of Texas.
