Ord. 0211 11-09-70ORDINANCE NO.. 211 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 35 (MAIN STREET) WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT.ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: WHEREAS, the Texas Highway Department has made it know to the City of Pearland that operations will begin in the near future for the improvement of State Highway 35 (Main Street) from the Pearland North City Limit to 310 feet South of Walnut Street, and, WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to maintain a construction speed zone during the construction period, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PEARLAND, that a con- struction speed zone be established along State Highway 35 (Main Street) from the Pearland North City Limit to 310 feet south of Walnut Street, a distance of approximately 2.648 miles, 35 miles per hour when so signed within said zone. Necessary signs for posting the speed zone will be furnished, installed, and maintained by direction of the Texas Highway Department's engineer in charge of the project. Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). This ordinance shall be in effect only during the period of con- struction and completion of the project shall automatically cancel the speed zone.
